Positivity creates positivity - The wellbeing comes from within

The change towards a better life begins from within you. When you feel good,
the feeling is reflected on your loved ones, and on the whole community. You may have heard the saying
“You can only change yourself”.

Ayurveda Lifestyle in everyday life

General Principles

  1. Sleep at least 7-8 hours.
  2. First thing in the morning drink room temperature glass of water with half lemon squeezed in. This will activate your digestion.
  3. Practise yoga. Regular breathing practises is also good. End your yoga practise to meditation.
  4. Clean your teeth and tongue. After taking a shower in the morning you may massage body oil for your dosha type.
  5. Love, enjoy and care for your relationships.
  6. Get out in the fresh air every day for at least 20 minutes. Take a walk or enjoy your lunch outdoors.
  7. Drink boiled water throughout the day. Boil the water for 10 minutes and let it cool down. This is inexpensive and easy way to balance all three doshas. The boiling is an energetic treatment than purifying.
  8. Watch TV in moderation.
  9. Having an intimate moment with your partner can enhance spirituality. You should obey your natural urges while in balanced state.
  10. Moderation in exercise.

The ten steps towards a good life

1. Find at least one reason to be happy each day, and be thankful for it.You can write these down in a journal, if you wish.

2. Stop your thoughts once every day to the “here and now”. Forget the past, don’t worry about the future. Enjoy the moment and stay present spiritually as well.

3. Forgive the ones who hurt you.Bitterness will only be turned against you.Forgive yourself, too, because nobody is perfect.

4. When you are restless, shocked or stressed, do the deep breathing exercise to balance your feelings. (Instructions at the end of the text.)

5. Sometimes at work or at home you may get the feeling that you don’t have enough time to do everything you should.Take a few deep breaths, and drink some water. Then concentrate on doing one thing at a time.

6. If something is bothering you and needs to be solved, leave the thought for awhile, and get a good night's sleep. In the morning, the matter will seem clearer.

7. Take walks in nature and gather some strength. If you do not have access to nature, take a look at beautiful pictures of nature, imagining yourself into the scenery.

8. Make time for loved ones.

9. Help the people around you.You can join a voluntary organisation, for example. However, remember your own limits in helping others. You will not hurt people just by saying “no” every now and then. If you do not take care of yourself and respect your own limits, your resources for helping others will soon run out and the help you give will lose its positive energy.

10. Love and cherish yourself, and respect others. Then you will not allow others to mistreat you, or be stuck in bad situations in life.

“Love is a powerful word,
let it in your heart,
and start your day with
your inner sun shine.”

Breathing exercise

1. Stand or sit upright.
2. Bring your hands together in front of your heart
3. Inhale, raising your hands, and let your gaze follow your hands.
4. Exhale, taking your hands to the sides, and back to the heart.
Repeat 5 to 10 times.

Beautiful skin

A healthy skin is beautiful, and who wouldn’t want to maintain its healthy glow as long as possible? Genes, health, stress, surroundings (e.g. pollution and sun), as well as nutrition, all have an effect on the ageing of skin. It is therefore useful to pay attention to your lifestyle.

The truth is that skin already begins to age before your 30th birthday, and regular skin care should be started in your early twenties. Daily cleansing and moisturising are essential for your skin's wellbeing, without forgetting the occasional pampering. If you want to, you can indulge yourself in a home-made facial every week. A healthy and well treated skin attracts smiles and protects against the damages of pollution.
Skin care begins on the inside. The food we eat has a comprehensive effect on our health and our skin. Food that does not contain enough nutrients and vitamins can further skin ageing. Ensure that you get enough vitamins and fibres, and replace fat with cold-pressed vegetable oils. In addition to deteriorating the condition of your teeth, too much sugar will make your skin age faster. Its degenerative impact is based on the caramelisation within the cells.

When the skin ages, it needs moisture, vitamins A, C, and E, as well as the necessary fatty acids from the inside and outside. For example vitamins added to moisturising lotions have been noted to regenerate and revive the skin. The condition of the skin can be enhanced with a good night cream and serums, because the night time is the most effective and active time for the skin. The day cream should be selected to protect the skin from external factors, such as pollution and the sun. Moisturising masks used a few times a week can effectively moisturise the skin. The use of eye cream should be started in the early twenties.

What to do to prevent premature ageing of the skin?

  1. regular skin care
  2. balanced diet
  3. exercise
  4. fresh air
  5. sufficient rest
  6. relaxation and stress prevention with the help of e.g. yoga

Yoga helps you to relax, and the inverted exercises revive the surface of blood circulation. As the surface circulation is increased on the facial area, for instance, the nutrients are carried along easier, and the waste materials are removed faster. Eye yoga is good for the eyes and the surrounding skin. Massage and various treatments keep the skin and muscles in shape, and feel good, too. In facial massage, the skin is pressed lightly, because forceful stretching can add wrinkles. Gentle touch is especially important for the sensitive skin on the eye contour area. The eye cream is spread using the ring finger in order to avoid unnecessary stretching and wrinkling of the skin around the eyes.

What can help to maintain the skin's youthfulness?

  • cleansing
  • exfoliation and masks
  • moisturising
  • using sun screen during the day
  • vitamins A, C, and E on lotions
  • fish oil capsules
  • cold pressed vegetable oils
  • also lycopene can help to prevent wrinkles (e.g. tomatoes and tomato puree)

Beauty care in your kitchen

If you have a tight budget, you can use ordinary kitchen products to take care of your skin and pamper yourself.

Make your own exfoliator

2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp sugar
1–2 tbsp used coffee grounds
The exfoliator can be used on the face and entire body, and the caffeine and the massage may help to prevent cellulite.

Mix the ingredients in a small bowl. Gently exfoliate your face and body to avoid nicks in the skin. Avoid the sensitive eye contour area. When exfoliating the body, always rub towards the heart. Leave on for a moment before showering off. If the exfoliation is too strong for the skin on your face, you can use only the olive oil and coffee grounds.

After exfoliating, spread moisturiser on the eye contour area, on the face, and on the entire body. If you wish, you can make a mask on the face and neck before spreading the moisturiser. While waiting for the mask to have its effect, you can put slices of cucumber on your eyes. Enhance the feeling of wellbeing by drinking delicious water.

Water of Wellbeing

1.5 liter water
1 thin slice of cucumber
2 slices of lemon
1 slice of orange

Pour the water in a pitcher and add the other ingredients. Let it sit for a while and enjoy.

Cherish your feet

Regular foot care has a positive effect on the entire body. The soles of the feet have zone therapy spots, and massaging the feet with foot cream gives a deep sense of relaxation

soak the feet in warm water

  • cut the toe nails
  • push the softened cuticles back with a match wrapped in cotton
  • file the feet with a foot file
  • exfoliate the feet with an exfoliator (you can use your own exfoliator, the recipe for which was given earlier)
  • massage the feet with a foot cream and put on a pair of socks

Enjoy the water of wellbeing or some Yogi herbal tea, and relax by listening a good music or reading your favourite book. Sometimes it is good to just stop to enjoy the moment, without doing anything.

What you need for foot care

  • foot bath oil
  • nail clippers
  • match, or other stick, wrapped in cotton
  • exfoliator for the feet
  • foot cream

If you want to, you can make your own foot bath at home.

Make your own foot bath

Fill a basin with warm water
3 tbsp sea salt
2 tbsp olive oil
4 slices of lemon
4 slices of orange
You can use lemon to rub your heels; the fruit acids will soften the hard heel.
